Power-on pads are two tiny metal surfaces on MacBook logic boards. When the pads are bridged by a metal object, the board powers on. Considering the power button’s connection to the board is often severed by a liquid-damaged keyboard (the power button is connected to the keyboard), it is often necessary to pull the keyboard cable and jump the board using power-on pads in order to determine if the board is still good.
