Hello.

I have a 2008 Macbook pro that won't boot at all. I get nothing but the white light on the latch, solid with no beeps, no display, no bong, nothing. I have two logic boards, neither of which power on, at least since I last tested them. I believe they both have issues with the ram latches, to the point where the sticks will barely lock in, if at all.

I hope this isn't the GPU. I have practically no knowledge of soldering, and I bought the second logic board just to fix this. 😬

Please help!

I came across an article about entering DFU mode on the Mr. Macintosh website, and found your video on Youtube. I have a question about what kind of cable I need to use, as well as which kind of Mac I can use. I have a MBP mid-2012, and I was wondering if you have attempted to go into DFU using a similar laptop. On your video you mention using a USB-C to USB-C to perform this procedure, but in the comments on the Mr. Macintosh website somebody reports that using a USB-A to USB-C worked for them. In your experience, does a USB-A to USB-C work? Does the quality of the cable matter, and if so do you have any brands you would recommend? Is it possible to do this with my MBP 2012, or do I need to find another one?

I followed it and it made a big difference for a long while, but over time it became loose again, so I redid it and i works for while again but now I would say the screw/thread situation means it's never going to be as rigid like it was when I bought it (back in 2012). MBP 13".
Is there something else I can do? Maybe add some kind of engineers blue (? someone mentioned this to me), or some other sticky substance to help hold those connections tighter for longer?
Thanks for your site and videos!

Any way to run the upgrade on the RAM?
(I know the SSD HD is doable, but RAM will have a higher impact on performance)

In a bit of a pickle.. was gifted a MacBook pro from my hilariously paranoid elderly father after he "lost" his firmware password and got fed up with Apple as they could not help him over the phone. I have tried to reset password in the terminal but am not having any luck.. any suggestions?

In your opinion, what is the best/last year/model for 13" and 15" MacBook Pro machines that can be repaired and upgraded? Can they really be upgraded to compete performance-wise with the newer generation processors and electronics? What is gained or lost with either choice?
